Nature Sculpture
Artist statement: The overall way you could describe these pieces is clean, thought out, and minimalist. I took a minimalist approach with this group of sculptures. The reason why I chose minimalist is that I personally enjoy making my art clean and sleek. Titles of pieces from left to right, top to bottom. "Contained Chaos”, I was inspired by the sometimes-unequal balance in nature. “Spiral”, I was inspired by a shell. It was so interesting to me how nature can showcase so many different types of patterns. “Sway”, I was inspired by weeping willow trees. I always loved these trees because I always thought they were beautiful and whimsical. “Unknown”, I was inspired by the things in nature that look unnatural. “Yin and yang”, I was inspired by the growth in life. You see this black sort of orb shape with a white object emerging from within. Lastly “creeping sky”, I was inspired by vines and leaves but also by the night sky. At first glance, you think they are just leaves on a vine but upon closer inspection, you see “stars” on the “leaf”.
